Joe Musgrove has allowed 2 runs or less in 5 of his last 6 starts. His opponent Dereck Rodriguez hasn't allowed more than 2 runs in his last 7 starts. So why Pittsburgh today?? Musgrove throws strikes and misses bats, something you must do to succeed at this level. He missed the start of the season with a shoulder issue, but has found his groove lately as noted above. Rodriguez doesn't do this nearly as well as Musgrove, and as the season goes along I think Rodriguez will struggle a bit. Pittsburgh has the better offense and SF just seems to be running out of gas as they realize this season is lost.
