NFL Season Win Totals 2017

I ran across a very interesting article about NFL season win totals. I will cut and paste some very interesting excerpts from this article, the key is the team's record in interconfertnce games from the previous season.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since the start of the 1995-96 NFL season there have been 49 teams that ran the inter-conference table at 4-0 SU. The theory is, a team that went 4-0 in these games may have had an easy path, and with a more difficult schedule in front of them in these 4 games the following season, it may be quite difficult to reach the same win total.

THE VERIFICATION:
The 49 teams that ran the table over the period, met this fate:
38 of them lost more games
9  of them won more games
2 of them won the same amount of games
34 of the 49 lost 2 more games or more 69.4%
The 38 teams that lost more games, did so to an average net wins over the previous season of -3.95!
So the fact is 78% of these teams lost an average of just about 4 more games the following season!

Supporting evidence then should mean, that if a 4-0 team loses a significantly greater amount of games the next season under this hypothesis, then shouldn’t an 0-4 team win a lot more?
It certainly would make this hypothesis a lot truer, and acceptable if that were the case.
PAYDAY:
We now look at the 0-4 SU teams, and reverse what was said of the 4-0 SU teams, and here are the facts:
Since the start of the 1995-96 season, there have been 53 teams that went 0-4 SU in their previous inter-league schedule.
38 of the 53 won more games the next season
12 of the 53 teams lost more games
3 of the 53 won the same amount of games
34 of the 53 teams won 2 or more games the following season (64.1%)
The 34 teams that won more games, did so to an average additional wins of a whooping 4.1!

COMBINING THE 4-0’s and the 0-4’s:
When we put this all together into one, since they are indeed the same thing we get:
Since the start of the 1995-96 season, there have been 103 teams that won all, or went winless in their 4 inter-conference games the previous season.
THESE TEAMS COMBINED TO:
positive theory results in 76 of 102 case studies (74.5%)
negative results in 21 of 102 case studies
neutral results in 5 case studies
The average wins or losses above or below the previous season in the 76 positive outcomes was 4!
Think about that for a second. Out of all case studies, with a positive outcome(75%) the results from the previous year were positive by 25% of the schedule, 4 games up or down!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some very interesting data to be sure.  The teams that fit the 4-0/0-4 profile are;
4-0 PLAY UNDER
Dallas 9.5 (+105)
Seattle 10.5 (+100)

0-4 PLAY OVER
Chicago 5.5 (+130)
Cleveland 4.5 (+110)
San Francisco 4.5 (-115)

We will put 1 unit on each of these. Our first NFL wagers of the season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A solid winning day just as expected, I had a really good feeling about today's games. The wins were never really in doubt, and Seattle had a chance late but couldn't sustain a 9th inning rally.

I had a play on the Angels pop up very late so didn't think it was good to post it, literally around 5 minutes before game time. The only folks to get it were those that ask me to text late plays. The Mitrione Bellatore fight was another. I got a late text from my MMA guy telling me to bet Mitrione, said he should have been triple the price a complete mismatch. I'll be sure to get those types of plays out in time to get them in.  I told him if he could let me know a little sooner it would be appreciated.  He's given me a few plays on these cards and is 3-0 and all of them fairly easy wins. I'll keep you posted when I get them.

I'll have the plays out in the morning. CFL started this week and I will have CFL plays throughout the season. Looking forward to a solid year as I have many profitable system plays for that league. Hope you all had a great day as we look to close out the week with more winners. See you early Sunday morning.

Ok a busy Friday that lost us a few units. Cleveland and Arizona were both shut down by pitchers that was unexpected. Darkish has been awful on the road lately but pitched a gem.

The WNBA was really disappointing, the NY Liberty stunk it up before halftime, then played in the 2H like they should have all game. We did go 2-1 on the totals posted on Twitter.

I have one early game today:
Toronto/Kansas City UNDER 9

Some rough beats. Philly loses in extras, we miss an Under by a half, Detroit lost in extras. Today Pittsburgh blows a late lead. It happens.

I hope everyone played that Angels game at huge odds Tuesday, they fit a really nice system as well as the 10 game block fade I mentioned Saturday.

I will have the Thursday card ready in the morning. I will say that the Chi Sox will be a ML/RL play as long as they stay favored.

This is an early start, other picks to follow later.

Oakland +107
Seattle (-1.5) +150: ML -145 or lower only or pass.

I will add a few plays around 3:45pm.  Also I fucked up this morning, I had a nice WNBA play on San Antonio and didn't realize they started at 10am.  Geezus this league plays at the strangest times. WNBA has been good lately and it kills me to miss one, especially today's it was a very high % play. Check Twitter later for a few additional plays.

Brutal loss with Washington while the Over was a winner after 3 innings. That play was so good I should have told you folks to play it 2U. If any of you did well done. Just a ridiculous Over record in that situation.

Today is a very big card, so let's get right to it.

                                      MLB - TOP PLAY
Cleveland (-1.5) +107

Cleveland has 2 systems in play today. One is playing on a AF that has been pitching well vs a team that has been hitting well.  Pitching usually wins out.  The other is a Road Fav that just blew out a team and scored 10+ runs as a fav and its not the FGS (First Game Series).

                                      MLB - REG PLAY
Philadelphia +143
Kansas City +176
Pittsburgh/Milwaukee UNDER 9.5
Chicago White Sox/Minnesota UNDER 9.5
LA Angels +236

Ok so lots of dogs so lets break a few down.

- Philadelphia is this price against Leake? Philly played them tough in StL not long ago, Cardinals scuffling a bit. The system is a bad Home Dog playing a marginal team. No way should StL be favored in this price range, I think Philly is a very live dog tonight.

- Kansas City going against Sale. Sale lost a 1-0 game last start vs Philly, while KC is really playing well right now. The system is on KC as a decent Home Dog playing very well recently winning 6 of 7. Go to MLB.com and look at how tonight's lineup has done vs Sale, its not bad at all. I'm on the Royals as a very live dog.  Their pitcher is young and a wild card, that is another reason for the inflated price. He pitched very well against the Angels last start. The public says no way Sale loses twice in a row, but at this price I'll take that chance.

- The Angels are playing a Yankees team that has lost 6 straight. Pineda going for them, he's probably their best pitcher and maybe the home cooking gets them back on track.   If you look at the history of tonight's lineup for the Angels they don't do bad against Pineda in a limited sample size. Bridwell for the Angels pitched decent enough in relief vs NY last week in Anaheim. We have 2 systems in play.  One is the one I've talked about regarding playing against a good team after losing 2 games following an extended win streak. Its a 10 game block and the Yankees are 0-4 over the first 10. Houston just went 4-6 in their 10 game block. The other system fit is fading a team that has lost 3 straight blowing a lead each time. Its a somewhat limited sample size, but with 2 systems in play and the massive price you are getting its worth the risk. You can also play it for a half unit or a bit less at this price.

The 2 Unders fit a system play that plays on the Under with a Home fav that just played a game where they didn't score much. They also hit a decent amount of HRs. Milwaukee and Minnesota trigger these plays.

Ok folks today is the type of day that really tests you as its hard to play these kinds of prices. Sale and Pineda are very good pitchers but we are going against them tonight. The Phillies aren't very good but bad teams win 60-70 games a year and I think they are way over priced tonight. I took the 2 big dogs for a half unit. If you can't play against KC or Boston I understand, but I think the Philies are a must play tonight at this price.

Have a Great Day and Good Luck with your action.

                                       MLB - TOP PLAY

Nats are a play as either a dog or favorite. If a favorite play the RL also, if a dog just play the ML. The OVER is a play regardless and is a high percentage play. I will grade on the closing line.

I may have some plays later depending on some umpire assignments, those will be posted on Twitter.  Have a Great Day and Good Luck with your action.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the week is over and its time to recap.  Folks I had a busy weekend with BBQs, Father's Day stuff, and a Baptism tossed in for good measure. So lets take it one day at a time.

Friday Baseball went 5-3, and very well could have gone 7-1 if we could get a bullpen to cooperate. Pittsburgh blows a save in the 9th while San Diego - perhaps my favorite play of the day - coughs one up in the 8th and lose in extras. Get those and thats a 4.48 unit swing. Ouch. Nevertheless we picked up 2+ units Friday night while we pushed the WNBA game. That was a tough one as they had a big lead and ended up pushing.

Saturday wasn't good, 3-6 but I did warn you about 2 of them. SF and StL had pitchers I did not like at all, and while I post every play that pops up I did say that it was tough to take those guys. Both lost and Wainwright got lit up. Take those out and you dropped about .8 of a unit. Detroit lost a tough one, The Oakland Over had 7 by the 4th inning and the last 5 innings both teams scored Nada.

On to Sunday and a 2-3 day. The Dodgers blow a 8-1 lead and can't get us the RL win. The CWS/Tor Under was 3-1 after 5 but we lose by a half as the Bluejays score 3 in the B7 to beat us narrowly. The Cubs OVER came up a run short. Some very close losses that were very frustrating. In my haste to get the plays out I didn't post Boston or Oakland. Those were the plays I track manually, and I mentioned them in Saturday's post. Houston's 10 game stretch ended Sunday and the Yankees will be faded over the next 6 games.  They are currently 0-4 to start their 10 gm fade stretch. Houston went 4-6.

Looks like a break even week, some of you picked up a couple units if you passed those plays I suggested Saturday. Still down right around 10 units on the season, while the WNBA is showing a small profit. Thank goodness for Beaver Ball as a buddy of mine calls it.

I hope you all had a great weekend, it was damn hot here in the East Bay but I had a rare Sunday off and enjoyed it.  I'll be back later this afternoon with the Monday plays.
